:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kranthi Paidi -- Fantastic read : So, this woman, who is one of the members of the Theosophical Society that produced the likes of Krishnamoorthi and a society that believes in spirit but not spiritualism, ventures from America accompanied by few others who in the name of scientific bent of mind were only cynical about everything that they are unable to wrap their heads around. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from P Dunaway -- A great journey into India by a fearless woman traveler. : First, I will read anything written by Helena Blavatsky. This is about her trip to India to visit the ancient temples carved into stone. The trip was taken in the late 1800's with several English people traveling with her. Many of the names of places that she uses have been changed. But there are youtube videos you can watch to see them. As a side note, she mentions how destructive the Musselmen are. Of course these are the ancient Muslim tribes which raped and burned their way across many countries. She talks about Hindu customs, and takes the reader to not-visited-before religious (Hindu) places, while riding on giant elephants, and staying with locals. No photos or anything like that. But a great journey. ( Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2018 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from T. Elmanovich -- H.P. Blavatsky as a Splendid Journalist : H.P. Blavatsky book From the Caves and Jungles of Hindustan is a very special book: it is a pleasant and easy read about her travelling experiences. All stories included into this book are inspired by this writer's passion to enable the reader to see and believe into existence of cosmic forces that have astounding power over our lives and destiny. She is convinced that our thoughts have tremendous power that we tend to ignore instead of attempting to use it for good, and learn how to avoid the impact of evil thoughts. He is angry with certain scientists who believe otherwise: if we cannot see it -- it doesn't exist! Today we know how right she was. Look, how many people write books about power of invisible thoughts. I recommend to everyone to read this exciting and passionately written book. ( Reviewed in the United States on October 7, 2014 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kaatje -- Mysterious and fun. : I loved this book when I first read it - as a view on mystical India as well as because I just loved Blavatsky in general. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2015 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Riki S. Dennis -- you will likely enjoy this account of 'Hindostan : As long as you remember the mores of her culture during this era, you will likely enjoy this account of 'Hindostan.' ( Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2014 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mary Hall -- A great insight into Indian customs : I have just been to India and found some of the cultural aspect hard to fathom. This book explains it all and is a fantastic journey. Very enlightening and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit or learn more about rural India. I wish I had a map so that I could follow their journey. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2011 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Sriharsha -- Must read for every Indian : I felt that most part of this book is an actual reproduction of the author's experiences, save for one or two instances, fuelled by imagination. However, this is a book to be read with an open mind. ( Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2013 )
- 2.0 out of 5 stars from Jim. -- Almost interesting enough, but I havent been able to finish it. : fascinating for what it is, a sort of travelogue of India from that era. I was looking for a sort of ripping adventure in the H. Rider Haggard mold. and it may yet prove to be such if I ever get around to finishing it. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2015 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Morten N. Olesen -- A good book for the theosophical seekers : It can be recommended for its excellent style of writing, in the sense of a fiction. And for theosophical seekers interested in H. P. Blavatsky, it is not doubt an important book to read. Especially since H. P. Blavatsy elsewhere in a private letter or two wrote that her claimed mentor the Master Morya is pictured like Gulab-Singh in this book. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 27, 2017 )

- 1.0 out of 5 stars from VSK Rao -- Do not buy unless you have money to burn : Nothing special which I found in this book. Reads more like a diary of a foreigner who cannot even spell Indian names properly. India viewed through a foreigner's eyes. ( Reviewed in India on March 19, 2019 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from J.M.M. -- From the Caves and Jungles of Hindostan.
